Chasen (Matcha Whisk) and Matcha Scoop (Chashaku) by 翠華園 from Nara, Japan Suikaen (翠華園)
- 500 years (25th generation) Chasen family. The bamboo of these chasens are kept in a warehouse more than two years to remove the moisture naturally before being crafted . No chemicals are added in the process.
Made with Bamboo grown on site at Suikaen, the alpine climate in Nara is suitable for the production of high quality tea whisks.Carefully selected bamboo from the Kinki region is dried in the sun in the fields from January to February under the cold weather where the temperature drops to nearly 0°C at night. The difference in temperature between day and night causes the bamboo to harden and become a material for high-quality tea whisks. This process takes over a month.
Each of these carefully crafted Chasen are made by hand. We hope you enjoy this special product to pair with your matcha experience.
Carefully soak chasen in hot water before use. Clean gently with warm water to remove matcha residue. Dry carefully using a Kusenaoshi after use to maintain the chasen shape.
Chasen Rest (Kusenaoshi), from Nara, Japan
Made in Japan. Use the Chasen Rest (Kusenaoshi) to help maintain the shape of your Chasen after use.
